Reading Life🍁
CanLit & Poems
I recently wrote about my realization of how little I Canadian books I have read, so I have set out to remedy that and WOW I have not been disappointed!
So far I have finished:
Country Music by Zane Koss (This book has now lead me towards more Canadian poets)
Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice (bought the second book!)

I also still love physical magazines, both for the content and because I am a collage artists so I re-use them in my art. Anywho, here are some great Canadian Magazines you should support!
(The Walrus, Literary Review of Canada, Canadian Geographic)

Ok, now, as I mentioned above, the FANTASTIC book of poetry by Zane Koss made me want to just devour more poetry.
I love poetry, I love writing it (not well) and I revel in the poems of Mary Oliver, Robert Frost, and Emily Dickinson. But again, I thought, where are all my Canadian writers?
So off I went with my son down to the library for a look at the Poetry section (in the 811.6 section if you all are wandering) and came home with a massive stack.
I am halfway through Xanax Cowboy (wowza, no wonder if won the Gov. General’s Award for Poetry!) and my son and I read Last Leaf First Snowflake to Fall by Leo Yerxa (my son really liked it!).

Here’s the list of the Poetry books in case you feel like checking them out. Hopefully I get a chance to read them all, but any I do I will most definitely share a review here or on my Instagram page where I do book reviews @exlibristrish
